The Notification Feature ‘Markas Read’

Organizing your inbox has become simpler, and it does not require you to open the Gmail app. The newly rolled-out ‘Mark as Read’ in notifications saves much time in going through your mail quickly to triage.

Fast and Easy Email Care Taking

This convenient choice is presentable right in a new email notification. It is usually hosted between the already existing Delete / Archive and reply commands.

This position means such emails can be manageable with just one tap of the screen. It is ideal when you only peek at an email in the preview and you do not need to read it in full.

User Rollout Schedule

This feature was first spotted in late June this year by a limited number of users. Its broader implementation has only just begun.

Effective August 2025, users everywhere should start receiving a new feature in their email notifications called the ‘Mark as Read’ option.

Before you can get the benefit of this efficient feature, make sure that your Gmail app is up to date by using the Google Play Store.

Expressive Comes to Gmail material 3

Beyond functional improvements, Gmail is also embracing Google’s latest design language, Material 3 Expressive (M3E). This evolution of Material You aims to create more personalized and dynamic user interfaces.

Wrap-Up

The August 2025 Gmail updates for Android have come up with a monumental leap in functionality as well as design.

As the M3E rollout continues, Gmail users in our community can look forward to an increasingly rich, personalized, and consistent email experience on their Android devices.

FAQs

When was this feature rolled out by Gmail?

The release started off among a small group of people at the end of June 2025. It has since been rolled out to a broader audience in August to users in and around the country. Make sure that you have an updated version 2025.08.04.x or above.

What is Material 3 Expressive (M3E) in Gmail?

Material 3 Expressive is Google’s latest design language that enhances Android UI with fluid animations, and dynamic theming. Gmail includes new container-style message lists, swipe animations, and a redesigned search app bar.

How is the Gmail search bar modifiable?

The hamburger menu and profile switcher are now located outside the bar. It makes the bar narrower and more focused on initiating search. The modification in design is also underway at Google Keep.

Does Gmail have all the features of M3E?

Users began seeing changes as early as June, with more visual updates expected to arrive over time for all users.
