Google has excellent on-screen keyboard that is going to make using an Android mobile much simpler. Now the Autofill with Google shortcut is in enabled status. So, you no longer need to leave the keyboard to find the passwords and payment options.

This new shortcut removes the necessity of swapping between applications. It improves the process of information input in terms of speed and ease as much as possible.

What’s Changing

The central part of this new feature is the appearance of a special shortcut icon on the toolbar in Gboard. The icon presents to you two important functions of autofill instantly available:

Passwords: You can tap the shortcut when the user is already in an app. It will show them a list of saved passwords in the particular application. This comes in particularly handy when the standard autofill prompts do not show up, thus providing you with a backup.

Payment Methods: The shortcut will also open up your credit and debit cards, which you have stored. To further protect your account, an additional stage is to follow. This is because before completing the entire card information, you must enter the security code of the card (CVV).

Availability & Requirements

Not every user can use this new shortcut yet because it is a staggered rollout. You will be required to fulfill a couple of conditions to stand a good chance of having it:

Gboard must have been revised to a stable number 15.7.4.787916401 or beta 15.7.5.787916401 latest. The device on which you use Google Play should have at least Google Play services 25.30.

Toggle the shortcut on by entering the settings of the on-screen keyboard of your device. The shortcut will be available in the Gboard shortcuts panel.

Benefits

This Autofill with Google shortcut has some essential advantages, enhancing the mobile experience:

Easy-Flow Data Entry: It keeps the process of logging in so that you do not lose a good deal of time. Your mind does not become stressed.

High Reliability: It is there as a fallback when there are no autofill prompts at all. This is a frequent problem that may occur on certain websites or apps.

Better Security: Since it will directly connect with the secure autofill service offered by Google, it can be a secure method of accessing sensitive information.

Restrictions & Security Notes

It is a huge convenience of the feature; nonetheless, one should know its drawbacks and precautions. It is not yet available to all at once; it is in a staggered rollout. The thing is to be patient.

You will need to enter the CVV code of your card. It is an essential step to provide security for your financial data.

They will not be allowed to get your card details, as they are a third party. One can always consider locking their device with a strong lock screen in order to protect their information.

What to Expect Ahead

With the further spread of the shortcut to filling in the form using Google, Google is likely to further optimize the feature.

Other possible future updates include a wider release of all users in the stable Gboard build. The possibility that an autofill category should be in queue, such as addresses and other form data.

This even further liaison with Google is expected to continue to enhance the total efficiency and security of the mobile entry.

Enablement

Provided that you have the compatible versions of Gboard and Google Play services, the feature is turned on as follows:

Open the Settings of your device.

Go to System settings ->d Languages & input -> On-screen keyboard -> Gboard.

Use the settings of autofill with Google, find, and switch on the mode.

Inside Gboard, press the shortcut grid, and there is a new Autofill icon.

FAQs

What does the new thing in Gboard mean: Autofill with Google?

It is an abbreviation for the Gboard keyboard, which can be useful to save passwords and payment methods.

Which versions have this?

The functionality appears alongside the latest stable (15.7.4.787916401) and beta (15.7.5.787916401) versions of Gboard. It needs Google Play services 25.30 or higher.

What do I do to turn it on?

Visit the list of on-screen keyboard settings on your device. The next is go to Gboard settings, and turn on the “Autofill with Google” toggle. The shortcut will consequently appear on the keyboard shortcut grid.

What occurs by tapping the shortcut?

There will be two tabs: Passwords and Payment methods (saves cards and requires a CVV code).

What is useful about this as opposed to the old way?

It allows for secure and more easily access to credentials and payment information without manually opening a password manager.

Can everybody have it out now?

Not yet. That capability is already in a limited rollout now.
